Tesla recently released an important OTA update, adding a new feature called “Automatic Sensing Front Trunk” to its 2024.32.3 version of the vehicle software. This update allows car owners to access the vehicle’s front trunk more easily.

The function is very convenient to use: the owner only needs to stand in front of the front trunk and make sure that the mobile phone key is not blocked, the system will sound a prompt, and then the front trunk will open automatically. This function is particularly suitable for use when both hands are busy, such as after shopping or when carrying luggage.
The front trunk is a notable feature of electric vehicles. Although some fuel sports cars have front trunks due to their rear-mounted engines, most fuel vehicles are only equipped with a rear trunk.

According to the latest news, this update is currently only available for the latest models of Model 3, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck.

It should be noted that due to the lack of ultra-wideband (UWB) hardware in the Model Y, this function cannot be used at present, and there is no news on whether the modification service will be provided in the future.

To activate this feature, owners need to use iPhone 11 or later and Tesla APP 4.31.0 or later, and it is expected to support Android users in the future.
In addition, the previously launched automatic sensing trunk function has also been further improved and optimized.
Now, owners can choose to disable the automatic sensing front trunk and trunk function in the home location to prevent automatic opening in the garage.
